Master Kim Young-sup has written from Korea. He reports that UNESCO has decided in principle to accept 'traditional martial arts' as intangible cultural heritage. The decision will be ratified in 2010.

Please contribute any information you receive on these developments, as it may mean that there will be a source of UN funding to support traditional archery and horseback archery in future.

Stephen,
I am sure that everyone in the World Traditional Archery Association will be interested. Many of the people I met in Korea were interested in the martial forms of archery as well as target archery and hunting.

Archery in its military form is one of the oldest martial arts.

Very good news! I also suggested to found "World Archery Heritage" in my articles' result section presented in Korea. And this will intersect with WTAA's main goals.

Viva revitalise the traditional archery!

Stephen, could you write us any new information about the Unesco decision? Was it ratified or not yet?
