I'm sorry that I did not dare going further than 28 inches draw... I do draw longer when it is in my hand, but seeing the poor thing so distorted on my wall made me uneasy and I stopped at 28".... 28 counted from the inside of the handle, so a bit more than 29 in fact. See the picture below !

The reason that I tried it on the wall was that while shooting it the week before, an arrow nock broke at release and the bow made an ugly noise. I thought I would try it on a bench before shooting again.

So the conclusion is that the bow you sold me is very light, very small, very short, very fast and very strong as well, having resisted a dry fire at full thumb-draw !

Did the nock break off on one side or did it split down the middle? Was it a self nock or a modern one?

It broke on one side, it was a modern translucent nock on a kassai wooden arrow. I must say that this arrow was far from new and the nock probably took a lot of beating in its nock life.

I heard that the translucent rigid nocks were more prone to breakage that the opaque softer ones.

Some of the old archery books say that the side of the nock breaks off because your index finger is pressing too hard against the side of the arrow.

I have broken plastic nocks by using too thick a string on too powerful a bow. They snapped straight down the middle. With Turkish-style nocks, I noticed that the large opening at the bottom of the nock meant that the cusps were not under pressure. You can see some pictures in the old discussion forum. I wonder if you could achieve the same thing with plastic nocks by removing a little material with sand paper.

Plastic nocks do degenerate with time. I do not know if it is due to Ultraviolet radiation, but they become brittle and powdery on the surface.

The shape of the force-draw curve is very similar to the curves for real Korean hornbows.
