Measuring Draw-Weight
How does one go about measuring the draw-weight of a bow with common house hold materials?
You can get a pretty close approximation by following the technique described in this article. Measure and calculate using the metric system for closer numbers. Use a soda bottle filled with rocks and water to get approximately a 5 lbs weight. If the two limbs have different deflections, average them.

Make an oversized "arrow" from a broom handle. Mark draw length from nock. Attach to bow. Press against bathroom scale.
That's a much better idea than my "large bucket full of water" idea!jack farrell wrote:

Zero the scale to set the mass of the bow and the broom handle to nothing or weigh them and subtract the weight from the scale measurement.
??or use your tillering stock instead of broom handle.
