Manchu archery article in JOCMS
Hi all,
Just to let you know I did a lengthy article (14 pages) on Manchu archery in the current issue of the Journal of Chinese Martial Studies.
The current issue also has some other interesting articles on Qin bronze weaponry and general Qi Jiguang.

(Stephen Selby was in the previous issue with a lengthy article on the development of Chinese bows.)
Yours,
Peter

Just ordered a copy. Can't wait.
Thanks Stephen, I'm glad you like it!
I am currently working on a book that I intend to publish during the course of 2011. It will be an annotated translation of an 18th century text on Qing bows, arrows, targets, crossbows, and bow cases & quivers. I originally started these translations out of personal curiosity, then as part of the research for a book on Manchu Archery, but it is so packed with info that I decided it is worthy of publication on its own.
More about that later.

I'm sure it's a lot of hard work translating, but the result will worth. I'm looking forward to see the book finished. This article must be a preview.
Finally had the chance to read the journal. Excellent article, Peter. Very informative and well illustrated.
