field maple (bigleaf) or vine maple as core
Near me is a little wood abundant with bigleaf maple and vine maple. The vine maple has straight sections, but being in a ravine it tends to grow sideways out of the hill, horizontally into space. The bigleaf maple grows upright and there are plenty of decent sized trees about 4" diameter that nobody would miss. Are these good woods for this type of use?
How about rowan? Rowan grows around here as well, and i have found it to be light, easy to work, and fairly elastic. I actually really like the wood of the rowan tree for bows, although i've only made a couple.
Thanks.

right it's not field maple. I just checked the leaf patterns and although before i thought the two names were interchangeable (field and bigleaf) i find that is not the case.
I know vine maple sales in ebay as a bow stave . İf s. gravity is high it should be good for bowmaking. They said it is it is very good choice.
