why some old hornbow breaked? who made hornbow a wrong way?
recently, many breaked hornbow picture posted at our forum, is we are need think about why a howbow breaked and what situation the breaked bow?
i saw many old hornbow(about more than 50 hornbows,i am sure here a few specialist saw thousand of hornbows, now discuss the methodology(how did you make a hornbow) and the result of used and saved many years......
at first, the core wood and bamboo,
if a hornbow main depend on the wood core, you can compare the ratio of the sinew/wood/horn,the wood core has a big thickness more than the sinew and horn, if the bowyer use the steam make the core , how many year the wood core will breaked? the wood one year grow up ring(年轮）has more fragility than other part of the wood, after steam and water soaking and often used, i am sure it will break into many layer !
next is the horn
many hornbow has contortion , imbalance , maybe the demp let horn recovery it primitive form ,some old korean hornbow we has saw,
only two breaked horn i has saw, one is korean hornbow, other is a qinghai hornbow,a lot hornbow horn turn more white in the center ( transversal but many of them are longitudinal), also some korean hornbow cuted many part picture at www.hornbow.com
the sinew and glue
the color turn dark(RED or black), it seemed the glue has degradation reaction,also in the shop the blaaders saved many year will turn red color
the handle and syiha all v shap connect , if they are stiff(stereoplasm) the abrasive action will happen
at finale, if you are hold the hornbow tumble (one the horse back :shock: )
if you want to do , hold the siyha and the sinew side face to you draw the bow ,what happen?
