Where to get 36"-37" Carbon/Aluminium arrow shafts

Kyudo stores in Japan carry Easton Aluminum (XX75 1813, 1913,2015,2117) and Easton carbon arrows which they can make into shafts up to 110cm (43.3 inches) in length.

However. the cost is exorbitant. You're talking about a simple Easton carbon shaft without shipping cost which cost around USD$35 per PIECE, without nocks, inserts, points, fletching. Even Easton Axis full metal jacket shafts don't cost that much.

Combing through Easton website, I find the max-stock length I could find is 34 1/2 inches. (X7 Eclipse and other 25-XX and above sizes). So my question is, where are these Kyudo stores in Japan getting their super long Easton Carbon/aluminum from (max of 110cm, 43.3 inches)?

You can't find any XX75 series, nor any 1813, 1913, 2015, 2117) with that kind of stock length for Easton shafts other than in Japan, and I can't find any arrow from Easton which have a stock length longer than 34 1/2 inches.

Do any forum members know or can direct me to where I can obtain 36" -37" inch Carbon or Aluminum arrow shafts (any brand doesn't matter) that don't cost and arm and a leg?

Hi J-Boon,

arrows for Kyudo ARE expensive! I payed for 1 carbon-shaft, a friend of mine brought me a dozen from Japan, ? 35,-, and that was cheap!

i own 10 pieces Easton-Aluminium XX75 - 2117 (grey, length without nock-konus 106 cm) and 8 XX75 - 2015 (red, length without nock-konus 109 cm) naked shafts and don?t need them. I would sell them ? 7,50 / piece. But, i live in Austria/Europe, so the shipping would be very expensive. Too, i think, there are costs for Bank-transfer.

If you are interested, i will ask for shipping-costs.

Dear Peter,

Thank you for your reply and for your kind offer. I did some quick math, for a very quick price check.

18 arrows at 7.50 euro each = $155 Euro. (thats roughly AUD 210). Bank transder will be maybe AUD$45 (33 Euro) , excluding extra foreign currency exchange cost. Shipping I'm guessing would be around 70 Euro (AUD 95) or possibly more because of the length of parcel, I'm guessing.

That works out to 258 Euro (AUD 350) minimum for 18 bare shafts without nocks. It certainly is not very cost effective to get 18 bare aluminum shafts this way, but I really appreciate your kind thoughts.

I have some 95cm bamboo arrows which I use on my Yumi. However, the long carbon/aluminum shafts, I'm looking for are intended for my other bows. (I draw to 35" on my Kassai bow). I intent to also fletch these planned Aluminum/Carbon shafts differently from the bamboo arrows I use for my yumi

While I like the bamboo arrows I'm using, I'm thinking of using Aluminum/Carbon arrows of 36'-37". so that I can cross compare the feel between different arrow material types when shot at my full draw. Maybe the worse outcome is I get max-stock length 34 1/2 " Easton shafts with their 25-XX and up size series, and try to bump up the length with longer nocks.

No problem, you?re welcome.

I have seen an archer using an extension piece to increase the length of his arrows from 32" to 34". I think he had Heritage carbon arrows. The extra piece looked just like a short piece of arrow. Maybe you could get the arrows you want plus one extra arrow to cut into pieces and add them to the arrows with some kind of insert. Just a thought, I have never used carbon or aluminum arrows.

Thank you for posting this. I do think that the 34 would be adequate for me. I will have to check the easton site and see what they have.
Please keep us updated as to what you find.

I am 5'11 and try my best to learn korean discipline of archery, and cannot draw the bow to the desired length because the longest arrows available in my area are 32.5 inches.

You're only about 3 or 4 cm taller than me, but my draw length is around 31 - 32 inches (depending on the bow - it's 31 on my Hwarang), and I use arrows 80 - 85 cm long. How come you need it so long?

There is not a unique relation between height and draw length, it also depends on the length of the arms.
