aka University of Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology. I am really embarrased that my pics did not come out better. This first one was eight feet in the air and behind glass and there is a poor focus.

I paraphrase the text; A Tatar Horseman, ca. 1400 CE, China

A... Tatar horseman on a small Mongolian pony returning from a winter hunt with a slain deer and large bird slung over the saddle.... painted in the style of the famous Yuan Dynasty artist Zhao Mengfu. Though this painting is so signed, there is no evidence that it was copied from an original.

The original has good detail but the color is monotone.

Nice pic, thanks Jack, very interesting.
The horse doesnt look like a small Mongolian horse though. The shape is totally different, the horses features are much finer. But of course it is just a painting and who knows how the original was..
