How to improve making Fish Bladder Glue
Let me explain what I did and you can share your opinion about what could have been done differently.
At the beginning it seemed easy but for someone who had no idea, could be a bit complicated since there are a few similar ways to prepare glue from dried fish bladder.
I bought ? pound of dried air bladder of yellow fish (croaker?) from a Chinese store.
I soaked these bladders for a night in the jar. Early morning I used pliers and I ripped them off into small pieces.
I added distilled water until all the pieces are submerged and started boil slowly with double boiler checking its temperature by attached thermometer. I thought depending on bladders condition I could use blander. After boiling in 65 degree celsius for 2 hours they were barely soft so I put in the blender and smoothie like mixture was back in the pot to carry on boiling. I noticed that after 5 hours that smoothie was not exactly resolving. So I decided to use my hand blander and used in the pot while boiling and it helped greatly to reduce the size of the pieces. I used that hand blander once every hour until I strain it with a piece thin cloth 10 hours after I started that process. I put that water like liquid in fridge to harden.
I realized that I had at least 40 percent of bladder that not exactly resolved so I put them back to boiler. I added only 100 ml distilled water, used hand blender and boiled 4 more hours. This time I used metal strainer. Even metal strainer was not enough for that thick mud like texture to pass through. So I separated the final leftovers and put these two containers into fridge as well.
I used pliers to separate their fibers as much as possible.
- boiled in distilled water for 10 and 14 hours between 62 and 66 degrees celsius.
- used blenders to reduce their sizes.
- used both metal strainer and cloth.
What you gentlemen would do differently to improve the result?
Also please let me know where I will store them now? in the fridge or freezer ?
Thanks

yes it is croaker bladders, if the glue not sticky or gel very strong, the glue is failing, this way i has done and failing ,for pound glue , the juyanghao bowyer said steam it until you can use a chopsticks cut in bladder very easy, then pound it , if the bladder has more water, when pound it it well splash,no effect shatter it very very well if bladder gel very strong, it will gel on the container
the small badder form eye see so more difffer one than other one, if the bladder has more white, it has more fiber like sinew or h2o2 blanch(lots bladder has one same color), it can not got more clear glue, but it good for the muddiness glue,
if you want more clear glue, choose the more red or brown bladder and more transparence is good, the small bladder of the 5-7 CM croaker, i got a new die croaker on beach the bladder very easy dissolve in strong shine very hot sand
see the video of korean bowyers on youtube, it can help,www.hornbow.com also has bowyer's glue tools

I have purchased air bladders again.
I ve hammered the bladders nicely and pulled them apart just like sinew. It took a while to do that. Then I soaked in the water for 2 days and pounded by mortar and pestle until they are soft. I simmered with distilled water around 65 degrees celsius almost 10 hours. I had much less leftovers this time when I strained them with a fabric. Glue jelled nicely and it was very sticky.
I dried all the jelled glue with a fan after cutting them into pieces in a very short period of time.
Result:
I paid 17 dollars for 110 gr. croaker bladders and I had 75 grams of dried glue.
Do you think this is adequate or I should have expected to make glue more than %70 out of dried bladders of croakers?
What should I have done differently ?
