First horn bows curing

these are both made with pacific yew. I think the horn is too thick and will have to be reduced before i can draw them.

I braced the shortbow a few weeks ago and the core kinked over the end of the horn strip, which was admittedly too short to begin with. After it broke i splinted it with horn and then wrapped it with sinew. It's got 3 layers on it.

The turkish style bow has its 2nd layer of sinew on now, and i see the reflex is not the same in both limbs. Is it a better idea to add sinew there or remove horn? thanks

this bow is good to go, except for the finishing touches/weatherproofing/etc.

draws about 75#@26". I've left it strung for a week, and it returns to straight just a couple hours after un-stringing.

this bow was first braced 2 or 3 months ago, but the horn strips were too short and caused the core to kink over the end of the strips. Therefore i added a horn splint to each end and wrapped the splints with sinew. This is a cool bow, lacking only some birch bark or rawhide covering or something.

First success at composites! turkish style coming soon...

Wow looks very good Radius, i think u could draw it 1-2 more inches, the bend does not look too severe.

The syahs look very thick bet u could remove some of the wood from them, and get some more speed out of the bow.
Also some questions:
How thick is the horn strip?
What wood are the syahs made from?

Anyhow great stuff man, hope to see a video with the bows shooting.
