Dubai Museum
My friend went here, wants me to post these pictures, does not want his name posted. Hope you enjoy.
These flint objects are like others I have seen from Africa to Central Asia.
Same with these bronze age points. They are cast and then hammer finished. The cross section of these is a thin diamond shape. They usually lack a strong central ridge at this date. These look like others from a very large area. Provenience is very important.
Although there is some overlapping to type dating, generally speaking, Iron Age points, which are still made of bronze, have more material in them and have a well defined center ridge.
This is some ethnographic material. Obviously much is missing. The bow with the cowrie shell decorations is identical to one I have seen collected in Chad. I am unfamiliar with the importance of the shells except that they used to be traded as money in Africa.
Very Interesting!
I didnt know the difference in central ridge & the weight difference until now,
thanx for sharing!
