Kasan/Tip Transition Shapes
I have seen many bows where the kasan holds its flat belly thickness up to the tip and then abruptly narrows. I would think maybe keeping the kasan thicker along the belly would help with stability at the expense of added weight. I like the smooth transition and I have so far shaped my bows with a gradual taper starting at the thickest point in the sal up to the start of the tip. Does it depend on where the horn layer ends? Is there right or wrong way? What route should I take moving forward?

I'm not the expert here, so I hope others will chime in on this one.
But as it is my bow that is pictured at the top, I feel like I should just let you know that this bow was my second attempt at the turkish design, so it's shape may not be the best reference as to how the original bows were shaped. I think the kasan should have a near-triangular cross section, or the "sides" on the back may be slightly concave on each side of the kasan ridge. I think Karpowicz mentiones in his book that the small flight bows have a triangular core, while it is more important to hollow out the two back "sides" of the kasan ridge on the larger war or target bows.

for me, one advantage is to prevent the string from slipping off to the side especially when the bow is not untwisted / tillered yet

We were wondering in other topics why many bows in museums have broken tips. The picture above is a clear example. Someone should tell them that this is not the proper way to store and handle such rare bows.

This is not broken tips. A piece of horn or bone glued to top of the tips for prevent it . After a long time this piece is separate cause of differences cohesion between materials.

as i mentioned in another topic from you, the angle between kasanend and tip should be 35? - 45?. the sense: at a certain drawlength (mostly half way from stringingheight to full draw) the string leaves the end of kasan. advantage: the arms and string get longer and drawingforce is reduced.

the task is to find a solution to turn the triangle section from kasan to triangle section of tip, which is the other way round. on belly tip has to center the stringloop which end rests on kasanend.
i have seen old turkish bows with sharp or round tapered end of kasan on belly. it has nothing to do where the horn ends. on back the transition from the ridge to the flat part of tip are aprupt with small radius, or smooth running out like a drop. i think this is one of the rare parts, where the bowyer can do his individual design, mention to give max. stiffness with less weight. too the sides from kasan on back can be flat, but are usually hollowed.
