thumb rings

Hi all,
I am wondering if you can suggest somewhere/someone that makes good thumb rings? I have recently started to learn the lhumb release at home and have just built my own leather thumb ring however, I have never actually used a proper thumb ring and I would like to buy one even if just to copy for when I make my own. But I would like to see what a good thumb ring feels like too.
Thank you,

Ben

Have you thought of getting a bag of plastic thumb rings from Songmugung? Each bag contains 8 different sizes and costs 20 USD per bag (not including shipping). They come in a couple different colors: http://www.smgung.co.kr/2010/image/r_2010_21.jpg http://www.smgung.co.kr/2010/image/r_2010_22.jpg

Why am I recommending getting a bag with different sizes? Because getting the wrong size ring will mess you up.

The SMG rings are great if you're starting out. The slight downside is the slope of the lip is a bit shallow for my tastes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a nice beginner ring. Once you get the hang of things you could try your hand at making a thumb ring for yourself (I ended up recently making an acrylic ring for myself based on a similar design but with a steeper lip).

You can talk to Yeochang Yun (alias "mechwar" on ATARN) here or on Facebook if you wanted to order.

Thank you very much Justin. That is a good help. Are the sizes of these plastic thumb rings universal? I mean, if I wanted to have a really nice thumb ring made up for me, could I just use the same size as the plastic one that fits me best? I hope that makes sense...
Thanks,

Yeah, the size should carry over to other ring designs (bearing in mind that there might be slight differences in fit due to the convexity of the inner wall of the ring or the height of the ring band).

If a ring turns out to be too small, you could always make the opening bigger buuy filing/sanding/carving away excess material. If a ring turns out to be too big, you could glue in a leather lining or apply a layer of epoxy to the inner wall which you could later sand down.

Alright, no worries. Thanks for the replies Justin. Thats a great help.

in fact, each tranditional bow lover has a dream to own his horn bow when young age,I find out the secret why horn bow is small market:
1) expensive price : perefect one cost 2000-4000usd/pc
2)very difficult to get the horn material, like horn strips and sinew or
bladder( we call yellow fish)
