Just wanted to share my new Ottoman/Tatar arrow replica pics and some data:
http://www.atli-okculuk.com/2012/12/yen ... klarm.html

I made a set of 18 Ottoman/Tatar war arrows as described on my blog in Turkish. Nocks and tip near arrow head are reinforced with sinew and hide glue. Shafts are pine, barreled. The quill of the feathers is removed as on originals. I could have done a better job with the fletching I know..
Arrow heads are high carbon steel handforged by Michal Sodja. Decoration is based on a mix of arrows you see in the article. I say Ottoman/Tatar because today we are taller than our ancestors, my Ottoman drawlength to the chin is about 72cm, add the nocks and arrow head and you end up with 76cm as total length, which is between typical Ottoman (67-72cm) and Tatar (82-86cm) arrow lengths.

I am already not liking these and working on a new set. This time even shorter, lighter, more to 'pure' Ottoman specs e.g. 69-70cm total length (I achieve this drawlength to the chin by slightly leaning forward, a bit like the Manchus), 23 gram weight. These specs also match my carbon arrows.

They look fantastic though! There's gone a certain amount of time into those :) What kind of target do you shoot these at?

I'd be scared to break these arrows! They look like alot of work. Also, I was already wondering where you got your arrowheads from.
