Korean Bamboo Arrow Notes & Dissection
Hey guys,
I wanted to share this dissected Korean bamboo arrow with you. I got it from Thomas Duvernay quite a few years ago, I can't remember what the official weight and length are in the Korean measurements. I thought it would still be useful for some members who may want to make something similar.
I think a lot of information is already out and available for these kinds of arrows, so I'll let the images speak for themselves.
I was also curious to see how people think these shafts would fair in flight shooting. The total arrow length is 81.6cm and it weighs 360 grains. If it's a 50 grain brass tip, that would make a 24" shaft and nock ~232 grains. Maybe not the lightest, but I can tell this is a very strong shaft, albeit at 8.2mm in diameter.

A critical issue in flight shooting is diameter. To make a good bamboo flight arrow you would need to use a shaft of below 7 mm diameter. The brass point is unnecessary weight and affects the stiffness of the shaft.
