Hun or Xiongnu ?

When talking about hunnic type bow here, this is leading to some misunderstanding as Hun can be related to the Xiongnu (not a general agreement !) or to the Central Europe Hun later in time history...
I am referring to Iaroslav Lebedynsky's book "Les Nomades" ed.Errance.
So are you always referring to the Xiongnu when talking about Hunnic bow type ?

i find one chinese folk song has same as Hungary folk song,but my ability and knowledge can not do more research about music, there are more xiong history and culture still save in china

Jerome red bow; long time no see. I would agree with Jiao. His details are as I have understood them. Chinese made names for their neighbors and Xiongnu is their name for the political entity we call Hunns. This appears to be the origin stock for Magyars, though much changed.

This is why i am so interested with the subject.
In the museums (Karakorum, Ulaan Bator), the Xiong Nu are called also "Hunnu".
If i understand right what you said, when talking about hunnic type bows you are talking strictly about the Xiongnu type bows...
The Huns from Europe, who appear much later, is another story which can not be related with no evident proof to the Xiongnu except for some similarities concerning the shape of arrowheads.

Wow, what a great trip. Good for you for going. We just say Hunn type bows because right now the Hunns appear to be the first in possession of these type. Of course very many peoples eventually used them. I liken them to Kaleshnikov rifles which may have been invented by a Russian but are now made in many places. Military weapons transverse distance and culture easily.
Because of the east to west movements of peoples before and during the first millennium, there is some evidence of the origins of the Magyar peoples. I leave it to others to conjecture about this.
