Historical reference needed

I'm looking for a historical reference resource that would justify a bamboo backed bow with siyahs. As to location, anywhere Asia would suit, but I'd prefer China, prior to 1600s or so. An actual extant bow would be great, but a period textual reference would be very welcome as well.

I know I've seen such things, but I can't recall where. I've been zooming around the internet trying to narrow it down and then realized I could probably post here and get my answer a lot quicker.
