bamboo arrows on Ebay

Ebay is awash with bamboo arrows from China. Are any of these any good?

I've gotten some decent ones, as have other archers I know here in the States.

Biggest hassle I had was that my order got 'held up by Customs" according to my Post Office inquiries. I think that Homeland (In)Security couldn't cope with the issue... dang minimum wage workers, anyway!

Buy the ones from tiger; I haven't tried Oulay, but I thinker Tiger is your best bet. He is the one called "stmmr...."

Customs never gave me a problem. I bet KenH just had his shafts held hostage by a newly hired worker ahah.

100 of Tigers' shafts are arriving in two days to my house...they are perfect for the arrows that I make.

I can't see either of these sellers on Ebay.uk.

The four sellers I can identify are erictang1919, my_1234567, msleeli and paiaostores. Anyone bought from any of these?

Finally they all mention the possibility of extra customs costs. Does anyone know if British Customs make additional charges for arrows sent from China?

Just for your info I'm a complete beginner. I have a longstanding interest in middle eastern history and thus archery. I've also practiced tai chi for over 25 years and wanted to move on from hand form, spear and sabre to archery. I've always been puzzled by its omission from the range of weapon forms I was taught. I'd always intended taking up the latter when I retired a few years back but a succession of medical issues (new knee in particular which took a couple of years to get back to any real semblance of normality) have held me up. I'm only now starting but - better late than never.

Ken PM me for my email because I have started making bamboo arrows and perhaps I can save you a lot of trouble by telling you firsthand what to expect.

I have bought sets from Mark Hill..personally I think he does a good job of picking straight arrows but he DOESNT match them by weight nor by NODE. Which are the two most important things for bamboo arrows..not spine.

I suggest for you Ken to buy from Tiger directly since it is cheaper and since to get a truly perfect arrow set you must buy by the hundred and buy the 39" ones. But usually over 90 percent of those arrows will make perfectly good ones.

Jack Farrell taught me a lot and perhaps I can help you too.
