backstrap vs leg sinew
I am getting confused...
the more I read this forum and other sources describing hornbow building techniques, the more often I see that apparently many bowyers prefer backstrap sinew over leg tendons to glue on a bow?s back.
I have been using leg tendons only so far, but I am getting tempted to give backstrap sinew a try. Obviously it has its advantages, being considerably longer is the biggest I believe.
Many sinew users in the selfbow community believe that backstrap sinew doesn?t work well but I know the Indians have been using it.
What do you suggest? Any experiences? Do?s and dont?s?
Thank you for your help!

Backstrap is all Korean bowyers will use. However, it's becoming harder to get, as the domestic beef industry wants to charge 5x more for it and it's been prohibited to import it.

I think that in terms of quality, they are the same; but you can get longer strands from backstrap.
However, depending on your bow design, long strands of sinew are not always necessary.
