Hi, can you advise me which material can i use for coating of the sinewed side?
Some varnish or shellack wich will not crack when the bow is bend?It can be natural or synthetic.
I dont want to use leather or birch bark because it adds weight of bow, i thing.

Shellac then tung oil.
If you can get it Fullerplast and Thunderbird are both excellent bow finishes.

You mean first aply shellac and then oil?

Thansk, I will try shellac and oil :)

To prevent cracking, try several very thin coats of shellac and let each dry thoroughly before applying the next one. You need a dust free environment too.

Is there a specific reason why shellac first and then tung oil? I've got a box of Le Tonkinois sitting here on a shelf.

Makes much more sense to put a thin layer of bark on first. It won't add perceptible weight and you'll need less finish on top.

Thanks, I'll think how can do a dust-free environment:)
