Turkish whistle arrows in action (video)

Today I found some time to record the sound of two 18th century Turkish whistle arrows (replicas). I have a feeling it might have been a good while since this type of arrow was shot...

I do also make these whistle heads for sale, if anyone is interested. The price is 22 euros.

Thanks for posting. I have always wondered about the sound.

Sorry for the late reply, Gökmen. The whistle heads are made of bone. If you'd like I'd be happy to make some Baspare nocks for you. I do have some original ones, so they could be made quite authenticly.

I know Grayson made some whistling arrow copies of some of his original Turkish ones. I do not think anyone else has attained that distance with any whistling arrows so you must have achieved excellent aerodynamic form.

Congratulations.

Maybe you could make some for a siper, but they might go too fast to whistle.

Thank you. I was impressed with the distance of these arrows as well. 280 with the azmayish arrow with rather large fletchings was also a bit of a surprise to me too. It is much larger than the pishrew arrows, and not that much difference in distance.

I hope to have a lighter practise bow ready for this season. Hopefully that will lead to some better control for the siper. I am not yet properly familiar with it - especially with how it should be combined with torqueing the grip.
