Traditional Archery Competition in Golmud, North Tibet.
I understand that a national minorities traditional archery competition will be held in August 2006 in Golmud, Qinghai (North Tibet). All are welcome to attend and take part.
A Traditional Archery Society was legally established in Xining, Qinghai on 1 January 2006. This is the first, independent, non-government archery society in China. I was invited to attend the inauguration to represent ATARN, but was unfortunately unable to attend. Mr Xu Kaicai represented us and read a speech on my behalf. His report (in Chinese) follows:
我是昨天从西宁回来的，元旦那天，上午观看了他们的射箭比赛，下午参加了他们的成立大会，会开的隆重又热烈，主管文化教育的郑付省长亲自到会，省政府好多部门派人出席会议。省民政厅、省体育局派领导宣读了成立该协会的批复文件，使该会正式成具有法人代表的民间社团。省体育局也在会上正式宣布从现在开始民族射箭将成为省运会的正式比赛项目，明年就开始（这在全国是唯一的）。会后他们协会的领导表示，非常欢迎你能在今年夏天去青海，给他们作现场指导。
