mountain maple

I?ve moved from the valley of the Rhine river up to the highs of the Black forest. What I didn?t realize the first days here is that I live now surrounded by one of the widest mountain-maple populations in Europe. The few farmers use it as firewood, one of them could remember that this mountain-maple-wood was highly estimated.
The previous owner of our farm has collected a lot of mountain-maple wood as firewood. It is air-dried since at least 2-4 years, and I?ve done a simple selfbow of it. It?s a good bow and I?ll use it as a core for hornbows.
If anyone needs mountain-maple, I?ve now enough for hundreds of hornbows.
