Looking for a new and old chinese bow.
I have been lurking in the forums for a while and finally felt that I would like to invest more of my time to learn more about chinese archery.
Basically I am looking for a bow for everyday training for complement my qigong/taiji etc. practising and maybe an old bow for personal study and research since I also collect other chinese arms.
I was hoping that maybe someone on the forums could help me find what I am looking for?
I know that for example Gr?zer does nice mongolian/chinese bows, but I would prefer support the local chinese bowyers like Ju Yuan Hao. Only problem is that I have no clue how to purchase a bow from them except visiting them personally (which unfortunately is not an option for me atm) or what kind of expenses to except.
Finding an antique bow is even a more mystery to me since there doesn't seem to much circulation of them in the auction houses etc. (atleast not in the ones I am able to visit) also since I would prefer an antique/old bow that would still be in usable condition buying a one just based on pictures on the internet is pretty much a no no.
All help is appreaciated and thank you for the great site with loads of information.

I can help you order a new Chinese fiberglass bow from Jy Yuan Hao. The price is around US$190 plus shipping.
For an old bow, are you worried about what condition it's in? I have many in poor condition (lacking external decoration and string bridges).

Thank you for your offer to help mr. Selby. The 190$ + shipping sounds very reasonable price. What kind of information do you need for the bow and which is easiest way to you to receive the payment?
Well the old bow would be mainly for study of construction techniques etc., but ofcourse if the bow would be in somewhat usable condition it would also help me to judge modern bows compared to old bows. In a same way that I do with jians and daos.
Is any of your old bows in such condition that they could be still restored for light use?
Once again thank you for the offer to help.

The old bow could definitely not be used or restored. I got them for people who just want to cut them up. (In fact, they can only be shipped cut up into pieces otherwise the shipping costs would be very high.)
I'll try to put up some photos of the Ju Yuan Hao bow today.

Thank you for the clarification.
If one of your old bows for study would be still available, I would appreaciate it.
Pictures would be great.

Btw is there any source for quivers and holsters for bows or would it be easier to make ones by myself?
I would also like to order a new Chinese fiberglass bow from Jy Yuan Hao.
Could Someone bring me in contact with him. Or can I order the bow from you Mr. Selby.
Your book Chinese Archery is great!

I am also very much want to get a Chinese bow and set of arrow from Ji Yuan Hao. I heard that I have to order 1 year in advance. Did you bought some form him? Maybe you can resell? or it is quicker if you help to order?
I am trying to learn horseback archery too. but there is very limited resource here in California. I can only practice regular archery and horseback riding separately. I read from Ji Yuan Hao's website, it only shows bamboo and buffalo horn bow, now fiberglass is available?
BTW, where to buy your book? Is it English or Chinese?
thanks a lot.
