Central Asian Archery in German Magazine
The editor of Traditionle Bogenschiessen Magazine, published in Germany, has informed me that their latest issue is now out and includes my article about Sakian Rock art from the area of Samarkand. Featured is artwork showing 28 previously unpublished images of archers in rock art from before and just after the beginning of the modern era. The text, which is in German, discusses the relative age of the various images based on bow types. Also, costume, technique, quivers, and stance are discussed, among other topics.
This is the fifth in the Silk Road series; there is one other in Primitive archer, v 13, issue 2, in English as well as three others from Glade magazine,in English, from England. TB magazine will publish at least two more articles of the series in the following issues. My intention is to make this material as available as possible to archers themselves.
There is a discussion of an archer who assumes the stance that Stephen's logo takes. The research was primarly provided by my co author, Vladimir Karasev, a career archaeologist of the area.
I will work out with the editor when I can make this text available in English, may be some time.
The next two articles will be on Shaman Archery Sites and Shamanic Archery practices. Each article will be amply illustrated.
Please let me know what you think of the Rock Art article. Jack

Can you read German, Jack ?
Romain; I can neighter read nor write German, nor can I communicate with my co author, except through a translator!
Luckily, TB has an expert English linguist, and I, a Russian. -j-

Hi Jack,
Very interesting article and topic.
I knew Traditionalles Bogenschiessen magazin and wanted to get an issue to see the content and style but I had no adress nor any other info. My friends who visited Germany were not able to find it in book/magazine stores.
Can you please give me the contact details of the Redaktion. I don't want to miss your article.
Regards.
Murat

Hi Murat, may I jump in ;-),
You can not find it in normal book stores/magazine stores. It's only shipped by mail directly. Perhaps in an archery store you may find some.
They have aweb page: http://www.bogenschiessen.de where you can order single issues (but it's in german only).
You may drop a message to [email protected]. They will respond. If there are any problems, please contact me.
Regards ;-))
Axel
Btw, I'm not a member of bogenschiessen.de, but I know the people there from some projects pretty well ;-)
