Does anyone sell a bow that can draw to 36''?

Dear All,

I'm looking to start using a thumbring technique and because of my drawlength I'm trying to find a bow that can easily draw to 36'' without stacking

I realise that this is probably an impossible search, and that I will probably have to manufacture my own bow, but still does anyone here know of such a bow?

Many Thanks

Mike,
What style of thumb ring shooting do you want to pursue?

Well I intend to persue the most 'no nonesense' technique, as I have discovered in archery the simplest techniques are oftne the most efficient.

I feel that my thumb ring technique currently is closest to the turkish style (although I haven't actually read any 'how to' texts), I have more looked at photographs and tested what works.

I draw so that the string is down the side of my nose, the arrow fletching can be felt under my chin and the thumb is roughly under my chin. I know this isnt the exact technique because I cannot draw far enough (bow drawlength and arrow length limits me).

As with life in general with me, I'm looking for something that fits me. So something that can phesably be done by an archer with nose to hand length of 31 '' inches, is what i'm going for.

Many thanks for any help on this topic I understand is very hard to discuss over a forum

Mike,
I think you would be better off drawing to the corner of your mouth to be a little more authentic. Drawing to the ear will be a problem for someone with such a long draw, though with the right bow you could. If you wish you could "square" your stance. This would work with a light bow. You turn your body until you are more facing the target than standing sideways. This automatically shortens your draw and increases your ability to aim with both eyes.

In the old books, they recommend this for a short archer with a deep chest, but I find that it works for tall archers with long arms if they want to shorten their draw.

Csaba Grozers ?Mongolian' or 'Chinese' style bows will accommodate a 36" draw - no problem. Some of Kassai's models should do so, too.

If I were to draw to the corner of the mouth would I have to raise my bow arm in comparison to my olympic western draw?

According to grozers' website his chinese bow draws to 34 '', does grozer give a shorter official draw length in case of saftey?

Are there any diagrams on the turkish technique?

Also it would seem rather futile learning a turkish technique without useing a turkish bow, does anyone know what the grozer turkish drawlength actually is?

Many thanks

Grozer's email is <bowman@t_online.hu> . He will certainly give you a quick and expert reply. I am sure he can help with one bow or another.
