I found it easy to shoot with a thumbring.
Hope this helps

actually, I think Korean bow is same as Chinese bow in Ming dynasty.
Qing bow is heavy war bow on the other hand.
I had a lighter one as my first Asiatic Bow, it was light and sweet shooting.yeahsoo wrote:

I gave it to a friends Son as his first bow; he loves it.

However, this bow have a wierd siyah, not like Chinese or Korean bow, but more like a recurve bow limb, does it?
this one from 3 river seems more classic Korean style.

Regarding the modern Korean bow, I have one that I was shooting today that I bought more than 25 years ago. I modified the grip by gluing on strips of cork and covering it with leather so that it resembles a Turkish bow. It is smooth to draw, shoots very straight and generates very good arrow speeds.
I have a modern Korean bow in the traditional form with Korean ears. It shoots accurately and the arrows travel quickly.
I am happy with both.
the skb bow with siyah like this

It is like other modern recurve bow
while triditional korean bow siyah looks like this

and Chinese Qing style looks like this, and with the string bridge
but I guess I can not ask for too much on a 153$ bow
I am sure that you can purchase a stiff ear korean traditional bow from someone, I know that I can from quicks archery (www.quicks.com)
at the bottom of this pdf is a bow called 'classic hunter ktb' this is the bow I refer to (who knows why they dont say its korean)
http://www.quicks.com/pdf/quick_27.pdf.pdf
also search classic hunter ktb on their site homepage.
Unfortunately they are based in the UK but I'm sure a US supplier will do it somewhere.
Good luck with your search
Mike
I think KTB is Korean traditional bow
I'm not sure what KTB stands for however, maybe they are just different models of the same bow.

I would describe the difference between the two as driving a small pickup truck and driving a sports car.

form some chese member saying , the skb scrounge near 80% traditional korean bow market rate, what important use a thumb ring and korean archery method shoot it !
can you circumstantiate? the deforms and string comes off?
but , there are some result the skb can use many years and keep it performance,if we are modern archer use modern bows , the trouble of select a bow will be reduce more.
This goes for any bow buying though, if you wish to buy an expensive one, I'd go test it before you hand over your cash.

Did any give a good reason why they were not interested in Kassai bows? Or is it simply that they include modern materials? I tried my friend's 50# SKB, it seemed OK but I definitely would not swap the accuracy and stability of my Kassai Hun. Modern technologies provide a cheaper alternative for many who simply cannot afford the prices of true composite builds and if it encourages more archers I certainly do not dismiss it.jiao wrote:
a chinese study horseback archery form Kassai' school and buy more than 10 bows of kassai bow, but has no member interested it , also many member ask grozer's bow , more expensive than skb,the skb has a canada maple core but other bows has no this, also some member has use grozer'bows, the siyahs' weight not balance so the bow will shake more , also the skb has more shake cause long lamb and handle not so long and thin thickness,

Yeahsoo,
The siyah you showed is NOT from a usual Korean traditional bow, but one of only a couple in the world Korean bamboo horsebow reproductions. One of them is in the UK and I have the other. Here is a picture of Korean trad bow siyahs; the one on the left is of a laminated style and the one on the right is a true horn bow.
