Male Thumbring

Does anybody have any pictures of male or peg thumbrings? And the dimensions of them?
In Korean, they are sugakji, which literally means "male thumb ring".
Take a look at http://www.koreanarchery.org/sugakji.html for some pics and http://www.koreanarchery.org/sugakji.WMV for a video.
As for dimensions, it will vary upon the user. Also, they have changed over the years. Years ago, the knob or peg was relatively long, but nowadays, they are a bit shorter and more upturned.
In the link to the pics, the last pic shows a type of unfinished thumb ring that I used to include with Korean bows, along with a horn block that they can easily be made from. For comparison, the horn block is approximately 2-1/2"x1-1/2"x1".

I can not tell very well in the pictures.
And another question, Why are all the arrows striped it just ceremonial?
You are correct--the "peg" holds the string, while one or two fingers wrap around it.bustedarrow wrote:
Actually they where alittle different then I expected. With that style of ring I must assume that they are using the "peg" as what is holding the string?

Actually, the arrows are not striped. I went back to look at the pics to see what you were referring to--I think it was a bit of pixelation in the images.

I modified the one Thomas sent me to fit as well as drilling a hole for cord to carry round my neck.
I wore it out once and a friend commented on the lovely original necklace I was wearing ;)
When I first started shooting with a thumb ring years ago, I was given an amgakji (typical teardrop-shaped thumb ring) by a club member. It was made from a red pool ball. Over time, the red turned a shade of pink. I used to keep it on a key chain, but my wife asked me to stop doing it, as it looked like I had someone's polished fingernail hanging off my side. :DDiana wrote:
The Sugakji are the easiest thumb ring for anyone having long nails to use.

LOL
On of my more radical friends thought mine an ancient fertility symbol of some kind.
To her credit she loved it even more when told what it really was :)
BTW I dismounted the Hwarang bow from the Han Crossbow.
No range here would let me shoot it :(
However I rediscovered how much fun that bow is shooting with my fingers.
It feels far lighter that it actually measures.
Still a bit too heavy for the thumb draw for me but soo sweet shooting :)
