bow
Who know what type is this bow?
It's my bow.
Adam Karpowicz made the bow to experimentally mix a Korean bow with Turkish tips. Instead of a gradually unfolding rigid section at the tips, it has a Turkish style ridged kasan and ear. The horn is grooved in the Turkish fashion and the sinew is covered with leather.
Depending on the temperature and humidity, it draws between 55 and 60 pound at 28 inches. At full draw the ears are at right angles to the string.
Where did the photos come from? I would like some higher definition copies, if the photographer agrees.

They seem to be from my collection:

it is very nice bow , i has some question
this bow handle is a M style differ to turkish and korean, on the section of more bend area far a way from handle than turkish and korean, when you shooting what effect change of the mix bow compare to a turkish hornbow and korean hornbow?
can you show the picture of this hornbow unstring and detailed size(long, width, thickness of each section),
thanks for the any reply, i am so love this hornbow and it is a dream got it or made one

Jiao,
I will take a photograph for you and measure the bow tomorrow night.
The bow is very smooth to shoot. The draw is comparable to a Korean bow's and slightly different from a Turkish bow. However, the Turkish bow I am comparing it with is 20 pounds heavier so I am not sure whether I am feeling the increased strength more than anything in the design. There is no hand shock, but in the humid weather I found my hand sweating and that was not as comfortable as it is in Sydney, where it is drier and the hand grip is firmer. Next time I will put some deer skin on the grip.
I had not shot this bow for some months and it was shooting higher than the modern bows I had been using. It took some time before I was able to get used to the greater cast.
It shoots the short arrows through an arrow guide very accurately and hit the target at 50 metres with the second arrow.

Bede,
In the second picture the arrow is looks to be on the middle of the bow, the symetry axis.
Is that an usual technique or just an optical illusion?

Ginni,
I will have to check the bow itself. It has defined arrow passes and I apply pressure on the belly of the grip through the web of skin between the thumb and index finger. I position the hand so that the thumb supports the arrow correctly against the arrow pass. The small, ring and middle fingers apply pressure to the back of the grip. The degree of pressure is related to the strength of the bow: stronger bow, greater pressure.

Bede,
What draw length is that? It's a very pretty bow by the way.

The bow comes to full draw at 28 inches. At that draw length the ears are at almost 90 degrees to the string. I have not drawn it any farther because after 28 inches the mechanics are against a smooth draw.
It is cold and wet in Sydney at the moment so it is not a good time to run performance tests on composite bows. I have been intending to run some more velocity tests with different arrows, full length and short arrows. Unfortunately, I cannot test a siper because of the low brace height.
I promised Jiao to get the measurements of the bow and put them on ATARN. I will do it as soon as I can.

Thanks .... and if it's any consolation, it's cold and wet here in the UK too
