"Archery Traditions of Asia"
My book "Archery Traditions of Asia", which is a well-illustrated general survey of Asian archery bows and techniques, is now back in print. It should cost about US$16 plus postage. It is generally aimed at young people. Many ATARN experts helped to develop the text and commented on matters of accuracy.

Hello.
I live in Norway. My interest in historic bows started with the wooden longbow, - vikings ... etc.
I'm new in this forum. I'm searching in the vast forest of bow history as you all. I'm new to the topic of asian bows. Which books are good starters in the topic? I.e. chinese, japanese, korean etc.

If you are interested in bow/arrow construction, most people recommend the four volumes of 'Traditional Bowyers' Bible'. For other cultural aspects, it is necessary to look at separate books.
Really, until you are ready to go into some subject in great depth, the best source of information is right here.

If you want one book that covers most of the world archery history, I recommend "The Grey Goose Wing" by Heath.

I have been thinking of ordering the book "Indian Archery" by G.N.Pant.
I sounds , at least in it's description in an old Krackow Archery catalog to be quite nice.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this publication?

There are quite a few inaccuracies in the descriptions of items and the origins of artworks. For example, re-drawings of Safavid Persian paintings are identified as Indian. Then, based on the re-drawing, a bow case is identified as a bow case-quiver combination. The original painting is clear and shows two items not one.
Pant wrote a large number of books on Indian arms and armour and may have run out of time to proof read them. He was not specifically an authority on archery.
The photographs have some interesting pieces of equipment including darts, composite bows and steel bows. Pant had access to many collections and was an important person in the government. As a result there are pictures of weapons that have not appeared elsewhere. There is also a printed version of the Dhanurveda, a Sanskrit archery manual. In the text there are discussions of the associated techniques.
