Does'nt Kassai make some bows similar to Grozier, but a little less fancy/expensive? A friend has one and it's not a bad shooter and tough as nails. I think Kassai says they need to be tough to handle being around horses. Ash wood limb cores and glass laminations.

Hello,
I started out shooting the short recurve bow (at a loss for a better term) with a grozer Scythian bow, only ?125 and best of all I could test it before laying out my money. The bow was a fast shooter and I think it is a good one to learn the basics on. As it has a 32 " draw you can play around with technique rather than be limited by the relatively short draws that Turkish bows entail.
If you're interested you can buy one from quicks archery. If you've not shot a Turkish style bow before perhaps it would be best to hunt a round a bit, there are plenty of other styles as well.
Hope this helps

I think that Grozer still makes the lowest price Turkish and Tartar bows around. The grip of Grozer's Krim Tartar bow is rather narrow for comfort. But they shoot well. The Turkish bows are excellent: every time I get one, someone has is off me in a few months.
There's a guy on e-bay who does a range of bows including magyar, turk and crim tartar styles - for about ?90.00. Karoly Lapat is his name - Hungarian, I think he calls himself 'Karel' on e-bay. I've got one of his magyars and it's not bad 8)
Also, consider that most shop bought longbows, and other 'traditional' bows usually come in at ?150 minimal price, you don't want to buy too cheap a bow, as it may turn out to be below-average in performance.
Also, the full kit for a modern recurve archer usually comes in at ?300 (riser, arrows, limbs, tab, stabilisers, doinkers, sights etc) so anything cheaper than that will make it economic (you don't need all the junk with a Turkish bow, your kit should just consist of, bow, arrows).

I can highly recommend reiterbogen of ebay, he also has a website www.bowshop.eu. We just received two Kassai bows from him but he does have a range of bows and prices. Really good service!!!
