general set-up and use....
Ok, let me first say thank god i found this place. Been struggling through hours or searches for nothing on some other boards. Hopefully you guys can help a new guy.
Shooting a 51@28 Grozer Old Scythian, 3 finger release.
Was wondering about any "different" things i should know about basic set-up. For stringing, I've been useing the crouch and bend bow over knees, and have someone hook string end. Ok method?
Are there any gr. per pound recommendations? Spine considerations? Been shooting some full length Gold Tip 55/75 carbons, with 125 gr. points. arrow weight 425 gr. Cut one arrow 3" shorter with 125 gr. tip to test spine. Arrows were free so would like to shoot these at least until i'm a bit more practiced. Heard "light and stiff" is the way to go, but within what guidelines?
Do i twist the string? Bowyer says 6" brace yet with only a few twists it sits at 6 1/4". Also, can you leave these bows strung? I shoot daily, and wondering if leaving it strung would harm it.
Well thats enough question for now. I've already learned a great deal just browsing and searching. Thanks for any help!

Hello wyo bowhunter,
Your stringing method is that recommended for composite bows and therefore quite correct. It is also possible to string the bow using the step through method if you are alone.
I would not advise you to leave the bow strung.
Is this bow, or the string, new? The string will stretch a little after some time.
I can't help you with the arrows, I have only ever used wood or bamboo. As you are not using a thumb draw, your arrows will need to be more flexible.

yes both bow and string are new. i figured the b 50 would stretch. Any weight guidelines?
My wooden arrows are spined at 40# and are 400 gr, which includes the 100gr pile. I use 5.5 inch fletchings which I cut to low profile.
I am drawing 45#.
Finding the best arrows for your bow is a matter of trial and error and many combinations until you find the set up that suits you.
