Interesting Archery Photos
There are interesting archery photos going on sale in Paris: see

Particularly, look out for lots #26 and #177
#177 deserves close study: taken in around 1890 in Indochina (present day Vietnam), it appears to show a contest between a man shooting a rifle and an archer. The target is being held by a small boy.

Stephen,
No. 26 was published in The Grey Goose Wing by Heath. The instructor is in an extended horse stance and has the arrow on a level with his mouth. I examined the Heath book and it looks like he is using a large Manchu ring. His shoulders are aligned and very straight.
