Someone posed this question to me. I thought I would ask you fellows.
Any idea as to when bows started to become asymmetrical. I know this opens questions as to type, people and region etc but any idea when this style started to show up.
I realize my question could be expressed in a somewhat better way. But right at the moment the brain won't tell the fingers what it needs. :D

The oldest asymmetrical bows I?ve seen were the bow-findings I?ve checked past February in Siberia. Sycthian bow- design is asymmetrical, 30% of the Siberian bow- findings I?ve seen were asymmetrical.
I guess the asymmetrical design was much more common 2000- 3000 years before.

The earliest bows I have seen were Saka bows from Xinjiang, dated 800BCE. They are assymetrical.

There are remains of long asymmetrical bows from stone age burials in Siberia. They appear to have had short antler pieces butted together on the belly.
