A sinewing experience

Dear All,

I'd just thought I'd relate (what I thought was) an interesting occurance.

Having prepared my bow for sinewing, and got all the bundles and glue ready, I set about it. I gave the bow a sizing coat of my thin glue (twice as thin as horn glue perhaps), then followed by dipping the bundles into the glue and slapping them on the core, squeezing out as much as possible. Having finished I left to dry.

The following day, I put it out in the sun (my house is very humid) to get some quality drying time.

About midday, when it was warmest, the sinew backing began to bleed glue! Low and behold, there was still loads of glue unsqueezed in the sinew. I quickly squeezed all this out with the help of a tent peg, and then left it. Probably, I should have made more of an effort to comb my sinew straight (I think the crossed fibres may have trapped glue), and not to put too much on at once.

Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else?
