Does the Korean bow makers leave the bamboo core with one node at the center? If so, how on earth would he shape it perfectly to match the handle if it keeps on breaking? And how about the chinese bow?

For all I know, you do not want have node in handle. It would be a weak point and will most likely fail, if not, it is not good idea to do anyways. You would usually have 4 nodes in a core, two on either side of the handle. In this case, you should not have the problem of breakage when matching bend to the handle.

Chinese bow is same way I believe. I remember an interview Mr. Selby took with the daughter(?) of an old Chinese bowyer and she say you also do not make the core with node in center,. It didn't matter how many were in the core as long as they are evenly spaced and no node in the center.

But, unfortunately, korean bowyears leave one node in center . Koreans use bambus stripe vith only one (in cetre ) node vith long distance (30-35 cm ) betveen another nodes . He cut nods in end -because V -splice making.

After further interviews, I now believe that it is not a problem to have a node in the centre. Any weakness would be eliminated by being glued to the grip. It is important to have an equal number of nodes in similar positions above and below the grip.

I see...

All those bamboo strips....

okay I didn't really trash bamboo strips for that.
So, it is not a problem then? I guess only difficulty is in bending it to fit the handle. Easier done before you flatten the belly side.
