Thanks for the videos, Any moving pictures makes it easier to understand the techniques involved in making a bow.
Would you be happy if i put the videos on my website www.tillertree.com so that my visitors can see them too?
Kind Regards
David

Hi rebel, in your site is contact in Highland Horns. Its couriosly , you are from France and you live closer to Cornely . You have bad experience vith him ?
Hi,
I actually got my horn from highland horn and sinew. I spoke to the man who runs the business, his name is martin hyslop and he is very friendly and knowledgable.
I am very happy with the horn i received from him.
I am from scotland but moved to france 6 months ago, its ironic that i moved to france and found a supplier in scotland.
I have never heard of cornely how do i find him and does he have a website?
Kind Regards
David

Now i understand. I have only best worde for Mr. Hyslop. He is very friendly. Mi first 5-8 horns is from him. I know about Cornely 2 or 3 years and 1 year ago he have much more lower prices... Archery popularity is visible in his new prices. I dont know nobody who buy horns from Cornely , and try information about .Maybe you will be first?
Yeah i will try when i have more money and only if he can offer a better deal.
I think postage might be cheaper from him but i need to ask

I hope Metin this video help many of novices in archery. But mi experiences is litlle another- like mi friend Jano Nagy. if you see in his pictures he have his achiles tendons longer then you about 10- 15 cm ! If you can ,you must try no cut cow leg in knuckle because tendon continue . The same continue is in oposite place . You cut 2-5 cm erlier. Tendon continue in cow fingers more then 3 cm ! Every cm is goal , if you dont have back strap sinue. And i clean every tendon litlle more than you (thiny membrane ), next if your tendon is dry -you dont have a problem vith scraping and separation.
Dusan,
Thank you for your informative additions and very clear pics! As you said our videos only for demonstration like the others. I hope this video will basicly demonstrate source of sinews to most of people.
Surely bow makers need advanced information and experiences. I believe that Adam's new book enough for "information" part. But "experience" takes hours, weeks and years...

All we here changing ours experiences- thats why exist Atarnet .
Perhaps after Dusan's excellent post, people will stop calling them Achilles' tendons. As you can see, the deer tendons are the equivalent of the sinew that runs along our feet and toes instead of the short thick ones that go to the heels.
Ha ha, its my picture with my hand writing on it. i posted it here or at paleoplanet some time ago but its nice to see that it came in use, not only for my farrier study. :)
Funy . I dont remember, where i found this picture in net, but red lines is mine .
For more precisely- picture of dry sinew is from Jano Nagy. 8)
Well some people contact me and asced about bacstrap sinew. Like last time i havent mi pictures. This pictures are from Paleplanet or (?) And i am ashamed - i dont remember name of man who was autor of this fine pictures , but maybe somebody knows him. Anyway - its perfect buildalong - how cut bacstrap sinew from - wild animal- its first step  - kill vith bow wild stag  .
Dusan, is bow hunting allowed in Slovakia?
Sorry for this off topic question.
Sorry for this off topic question.
No , Our archers try but goverment and mostly gun hunters dont agry. This pics ars from USA.
Why this dr. use horn from Dick?
I dont understand your question, Rapsod ?
He cut horn, he grind horn, he steam horn and ind the end he use horn strip from dick. Interesting.
Whu is this "he" ? Ok I can say from mi experiences that Dick horns are the best horns , what i ever have . Why ? From first look (see mi pictures ) , are nasty , long and thiny and winding. But dont forget , i seclected from 100 horns and this horns from picture are only strange original in the wall. I have more another strighter horns for work. Before i first cut these horns i be afraid that this was no good deeling ...But in cutting i understand that this best horn material vithout cracs what i have. In his thiny and nasty body is 30-40cm long , 5-6 cm in diameter long full horn material only from this point startid hollow. If you cut precisly - you have 3-4 strips with "tiger type" efect /!/ from 1 horn . No steameng ,no cooking needed. Yes, in 1 big beatifull "normal" watwer buffalo horn ( like Highland Horns - i have experience) you have1 strip 5 or if you have lucky 6 cm wide .Second about 3cm. But vith cracking posibility and very much garbage material. In this "nasties" only 2,8 -3,5 cm wide - but 3-4 strips - and very good material !!! I understand ,why people who buy cuting strips are angry. Especiali if this strips are from site wall. But unfortunately in many of this nasties is ucefull stright site wall . Much better, more strighter, then in beatifull standart curvature horns. But succes is only if you personali visit Dick shop and selected your horns . What i can say ,more i am satisfied.
This picture ilustrated what about i said. The big beatiful horn is from Highland Horn co.. The thiner gray nasty is from Dick.
