A question about wood core for composite bow
Hi everyone! I want to make a composite bow and I have already collected all materials needed for it, except the wood core. As I cannot find maple, please chare your opinion about those two types of wood - Acer tataricum and Cupressus sempervirens. I'll be thankful receiving any information about where could I find maple
Acer tataricum is best way for you ! Old turkish bows made from this wood.
What would you advice me - I have got Acer tataricum, but it is cut not long ago. Do I have to boil it and then curve it into the shape, or I should work only with dry wood and to shape it under steam. Is there any danger for the wood to crack during the boiling? Dusan, it's exactly the Turkish bow that I want to make.
This is best time if your wood is green . Put him in 3-5 days in water and than curv vith jigs in angel what you want. Be very carefull. And buy book from Adam. All in one.
thanks for the information Dusan. Acer tataricum is very elastic and plastic wood. I will work with him [external image] :D

PAZUZU, where did you find the Mekish (bulgarian name for Acer Tataricum)? Wood store or some other place?
Hi Dusan. I found several maple slat good fiber, but are more than 15 years. You think the problem would be to work with them? Lord Ruthven, send a message in http://daobg.com/forum/index.php?showforum=131. I vipera berus :D :D
No , i working vith old good wood too. Green wood is better only if you have branch ,and you can curved easly. Old wood is super too. But now you must soaked in water more then 5-8 days . if you have good wood , you can curved only vith water soaked - no needed cookeng or steameng.
Hi! I would ask you a question - I have now the opportunity to find good maple material. Will it be a problem if I cut the tree now and dry it green in the form (using the method described in the book of Adam Karpowicz)? At this time of the year the trees in my country are already bloomy. Or is it better to cut the tree after the fall of the leaves - when the vegetation (growth) is at rest?
Thank you in advance!
