At the link above, what type of hornbow is this? This bow was made by Gao Xiang, a bowyer I am going to buy a hornbow from. The video says Hun Hornbow, but I am thinking more of yuan dynasty mongolian than hun. What do you people think?

Lucas; This is a nice looking bow. It looks a lot closer to Hun than many others have come to. It appears asymetric, is that so? How did you find the bowyer? How much will you pay? You may pm me if you wish. -j-

The use of short antler or bone covers is unusual, but I think practical. The bow looks good. I wouldn't tie it down to one period or place. This class of bow was used for over a thousand years and a huge geographical range. It can be whatever you want it to be.

HAHAHA I like the sound of that. "It can be whatever you want it to be".
So your saying it could be russian, tatar, hungarian, hun, mongolian, etc.!
Wow, I like this bow already.

These names like 'Hun' are a bit generic. It usually means 'bows like those reconstructed by Laszlo' in the 1920s. The only way to find out if Hun bows were like that is to go an find a Hun and ask him. (The burials in Hungary only contained the bone plates!)

I think the design is based on the very good images on Csaba Grozer's website. Csaba considers this design to be the most effective of any bow that he's built. I use one and it's very efficient and smooth to draw.

Well, I meant it can any bow that does not have recurved or contact siyahs, which excludes Tatar and Mongolian.
