Wenge
Anyone have experience with African Wenge as a bow wood?
I haven't used it but many consider it very highly. It's bit brittle but makes a good backed bow according to sources.
It also makes good paralysations... A friend of mine got a splinter of wenge in his arm, and he couldn't use it for 7 months I believe.
i am new to the forum, even though i have been reading it for a while
so wenge is in a way poisonus? i have seen it used in limbtip reinforcement

It seems nearly any tropical wood with resin rich wood has the potential to be poisonous or at least extremely irritating.
I have heard that breathing in the sawdust when sanding is very unhealthy. the different colours in the wood seem to be related to the hardness and brittleness. I have only made a file handle out of it on a lathe and I found it prone to splintering and hard to smooth out by hand.
