keep your hands off. This was the dealer I was in touch with. It took me more than ONE year to get ONE horn strip. They will ask you for upfront payments, promise you everything you need/want and will only send you samples. Afterwards they will ask for money because they are a small supplier, they do not know how to deal with Western people, they ask you to invest more money and so on. Despite of my many visits in India and my contacts, again - keep your hands off!!!!!!

Contact Martin from http://www.highlandhorn.com/

Uli, did you try already the german supplier?

Are their products OK to your judgement?

Don?t buy these horn- slats, they don?t have any reflex, so they are not cutted from the outer circle of the horn. I know about the owner of this shop, that he don?t know to much about horn- bowery.
Go for www.highlandhorn.com. That?s it, Martin Hyslop is king in selling horn for bowyers.

Are there other suppliers - other than this German outfit that Redhawk does not like - that actually makes and sells immediately useful pieces of horn approximately 3mm x 50mm x 30-45cm? Not sawn strips that need to be thinned, sanded, etc. I can find a lot of places to buy 3mm backing strips of fifty different woods. Why not horn (other than the fact that not many people use horn)?

I live in Chiang Mai Thailand and have been buying horns for the last year or so. I find matched, straight sets with good mass. I don't charge a lot and like making bows so I'm also interested in trading material. Currently looking for some yew or juniper to do some sinew backed short bows.

Contact me if you interested. I'm from Minnesota, USA but have lived overseas for 15 yrs. I have a US paypal and can ship plates worldwide for about $20 for one set (reduced if more than one set).
