Their description sounds like everything Redhawk has said about horn strips. Perhaps dickbiz have listened.

It looks better than the horn plates. But i would still go for Highland Horn, Martin at HH is have a good business and for me in Sweden a better price. I only buy my glue at dick.

Orda khan, I guess Dick has read my chapter in the "Reflexbogen- Buch".

All i can say about dick.biz is that they are very good source for horn and horn plates for composite bows, especially for those bowmakers in Europe. I ordered watter buffalo horns couple of times few years ago and for my taste it was great. Very serious and professional company. I think i get it in 3 days or so(from Germany to Serbia).

Cool. But has any one tried the ostrich sinew?

I'm the opposite view. I ordered four buffalo horn plates - two of them very poor quality. there are many transverse cracks and is very fragile - like bakelite. i do not know what the quality of the horn strips DICK, but there are other good suppliers of Horn in Europe.

3 days ago I got one pair from Dick biz - ordered for a trial. I had to return it - simply not useful for hornbow making. One horn was too long and flat, the other one very curly with a sharp bend. They simply did not match at all. In other words a waste of time and money. I will go back to Martin from Scotland - see http://www.highlandhorn.com/

Ouch, boys. If you remember i once write about this problem. Dick has fantastic horns , but you must go to the shop and personaly selected from minimum 100-200 horns . Not post ,no internet buing. Because all this horn has very strange curvature and most is -like Reto sayd - flat.
For post buying is Highland horns best choice.

Reto, did you take a pic of the horns before returning them? I?d be interested to know why a horn strip that is ?long and flat? is not suited as well as what you consider being ?flat?. Also, what do you consider being very curly with a sharp bend ?.

I payed a visit to Dick.biz today for a different reason but told them about the discussion here at ATARN. Here are two pics of the two different horn types they have: the shorter ones on the top and the longer ones below.

Anything wrong with them?

Thanks!

I found Higland horns as very good choice as Dusan suggested. But i didn't see that they sell white horn i need for some of my experiments.
Also, does anyone knows some source of long Ox horns?I found some seller from India but i have to buy 25 horns minimum:)
Did anyone had experience with Peter Cua's horn strips?

Hartung, this is a big difference to what I got from Dick. One horn strip was very small/short, the other one long. I returned both and asked for replacements of similar length and shape.
