Very nice work. Have you gotten a chance to shoot it yet? How does it shoot?

Does anyone knows what's the traditional glue for Yumi?
dady
from what i know it's fish glue

Dady; Very nice effort; the rattan work is good also. This bow is shorter than a normal yumi, maybe like the horseback version.

On a traditional yumi the nock pieces are not so thick. If yours were thinner, the arrow speed would increase. But I do see that large knot.

Keep on going. This type bow is not so difficult to make as a hornbow and will perform as well in target weights.

Dady could You give some physical characteristics and performance?

Best regards,

How do you tiller a yumi?? Is the layers tapered? Is it the r/d andthensome r/d that makes the tiller? I just dont understand how to tiller a yumi...

The traditional glue for yumi used to be deer hide glue mixed with fish air bladder, I think they call it "nibe" if I remember right. It's still used on the most expensive bows, but it's delicate on climate changes, bad form, etc.

Dady, the bow looks really nice.

Did you preheat the bamboo and wood before applying glue? Or did you bend it without heat after applying the glue?
Gaur
Nice job. I've been wanting to try making a yumi for a while now.
dady
@Justin Ma - the stripes are straight, I glue them and than put them on the shape, no preheat.
