making Ming/Qing-style thumb ring
I was thinking about making a Ming/Qing-style thumb ring using a billiard ball as the base material. Does anyone have any general pointers or can point me to a thread that has discussed this?
Some specific questions:
- When shooting, do you expect the string to dig into your thumb flexor tendon?
- I'm already familiar with some subtle differences between Ming and Qing rings (w.r.t. concavity of the inner wall, smoothness of outer wall). How do those manifest themselves in the ring-making process or in the shooting technique?
