It is true and sad that these bows are being tipped out onto the market from Qinghai. A number of Qinghai traditional archers have imported fiberglass recurve bows and compounds, and so the traditional archers feel that their bows are useless by comparison. Also, to accommodate the archers with modern bows and sights, Tibetan archers have started to place their targets at 140 metres; but the old bows won't shoot that far in warm summer weather.

I have tried to get the Tibetan archers to split their competitions into two classes. As a result, in the competition that ATARN sponsored last month, there was a class of 'locally produced bows and arrows'. (土弓土箭) But the rules were not well enforced and after a bit, people started to slip in modern bows under the excuse that the hornbows couldn't get the arrows to the target.

We'll try to improve things next time.

We have a similar situation in Korea. Certain national competitions require horn bows/bamboo arrows. Year after year, groups try to get them to allow modern laminated bows, although so far that has been rejected. I see it coming about, however, as the Korean horn bow industry struggles with its issues.

I assume the difficulty in reaching the greater distances results from the actual ages of the bows; greater distances were reached in the past. Also, recently made reproductions of Korean horn bows (I am not referring to fiberglass, etc) have no problem in reaching 145 yards.[/i]

顺便说一下，我记得好象谁说过，是谢肃方？杨福喜？亚当？修理角弓什么工具也不用，几下就修好了，这可能与是什么样的角弓用什么工艺做出的角弓有关，也许一张制做精良的角弓可以考虑到任何角弓损坏情况，防止在使用中断开，烂掉，太漂亮太了名被人偷弓的主人因此被杀，被动物啃咬等等

it not need any tools and a few step the hornbow has repaired, perhaps some real a best technology hornbow can repaired buy this way, it can prevent any damage things happen, the break, the putrefaction, too beautiful too famous some guys want to kill you got the hornbow，some animal eat it , it will mean, you can not damage your hornbow by any ways , it is a dream only :)

Let the bow preserve more easily and can realize sooner or later . But I feel should beat the foundation well first , and the footstep was got on one-step step . Not worry
