Bede
There are many varieties of the straight eared bow. The angle of the tips to the working limb and the setback of the handle are two things that help distinguish them. Other important features are the length of the tips, how close to the end of the tip the string nock is, where and how many bone reinforcement plates there are, and how wide the bending limbs are. It is sometimes difficult to know all these features because outside of dry regions like Xinjiang often only the bone pieces survive. If the grave is undisturbed, the archaeologists can measure the relative positions of the pieces, but this can be misleading if the pressure of the earth above the grave has pushed things out of alignment.

This general class of bow was used over an area of several thousand kilometres and for at least a thousand years. Such a large spread means there are lots of small variations and improvements.

Jiao; Not only did the Chinese adopt the Hunn type bow but they also acquired their breed of horse and horse gear, their battle tactics and even their style of clothes.

Hunn derived bows have been discovered from Korea to Scotland, as Bede has said.

Jiao, think about it. That whole area would have been a melting pot of not only ideas but trade also. Just like today, new ideas and innovations would soon become adopted and adapted by countless tribes etc. Even if a particular Hunnic bow had Han inscriptions on it, it would not convince me of its origin because the writing may have been applied to a captured bow by its new owner, or countless other explanations.

problem here, has any proof validate hun copy han or han copy hun, you know the effect of study form war

I agree, the influence of bow and military design from Han to Hu [Hu: all none-Han people. I am not referring to "Hun," which is a more specific group of "Hu."] and vise versa would be much more complicated then just some cave findings.

During the periods before Han, and later periods, there had been much influx and battles [and marriage] between Han and many nomadic tribes. Our understanding of the earlier periods are often limited by popular culture and limited recordings of the time.

But as Chinese dynasties changed, what's left of the previous dynasty is often difficult to know due to war and intentional sabotages, while various Hu [not Hun] tribes carried on with many of their own traditions.

While the Han, as well as other Chinese dynasties, surely had adapted foreign ideas and styles, the same is true for other cultures adapting from the Chinese dynasties. There must be a a reason the Silk Road was called the Silk Road, where tens of thousands of merchants risked their lives eastward to the "middle kingdom" for its silk, goods and produces while bringing in their own to sell.

For many Chinese dynasties at their full might, they often influenced and controlled [militarily and culturally] over hundreds of little nations around the Chinese territories, offering protection, at the same time, collecting an annual tribute ["protection money?"].

One can't even imagine the influences such grand Chinese dynasties had had on the hundreds and thousands of tribes close and afar, enemies and friends.

I would be very skeptical if such a huge population of various Chinese dynasties, with their arms of military, where they often had half a million soldier traveling thousands of miles for various campaigns over extended period of time, to NOT influence the other tribes in terms of military technologies, culture, conducts, and maybe, bow design.

And I would also be skeptical if these Chinese didn't pick up a great idea here and there and use it for their own.

I have this feeling that the "middle kingdom" and various nomadic cultures can never fully claim a particular bow to themselves. There must be a many good reasons why they share so many similarities.

yes , got 10$ but return more than 20$,there are so many businessman imitating emissary, some time it is heavy economic heavy-laden, hun is not hu or yi(in chinese yi is big+bow, other horde name add the bow or dog) , form han books hun is a posterity of first china dynasty xia ,but there tradition and custom has more differ(far away) to han, they are not take care to a man he has old form a strong man, old man eat remains of a meal, when he die, his wife becom his son's wife or his brother wife, i think today feminism and human rights can agree it in grassland, not in a town, han people strong against by their concept
