elm as bow core?

i have some red elm laminations which are about 5 or 6 mm thick and 50 mm wide. will this be serviceable bow core in 5 piece construction?

thanks in advance. I have made numerous selfbows and a few sinew backed shortbows, but never worked with horn/wood/sinew composites yet. i'll probably start asking lots of questions!
