choosing air bladder

Where i live, we have a large chinatown and yesterday i found a whole variety of huge quantities of fish air bladders. I wasn't able to find out much, but i see the price varies from about 40 bucks a pound to 100. Is this normal? They are obviously very light and a pound of them would make more glue than you would need to arm a troop, but i wonder if there is any advantage to the higher priced ones? I asked, and all i got was "That one is a cheap fish."

What's the species of fish from which they're extracting the air bladders?

Croacker fish. Somwere her is thread about this. Before this high price i dont buy bladers from China (Jiao and Reto was very nice and offer some.)Than i work more vith ours sweet water fishis... Anyway i think that Croacker bladers adwantage is his big body. Yes - some is very giants !

This air bladder is used to make soup. They say it helps you grow lots of nice black hair. (I drank gallons and it never helped!)

I don't know why one sort of bladder should make good glue and another not; but I suspect is is more to do with what the dealers do to the glue before they put it on the market. They may treat it to stop it making soup 'gluey': i.e. exactly what we don't want.

If you can put up with the smell, the best thing might be to buy the fish bladders fresh and deal with them yourself.

i make the Croacker glue now, yes ,i find this problem, they may treat it to stop it making soup 'gluey', hehe, many years ago the Croacker bladder glue can not dissolve in water(times, temperature)

i will post video of i "pound" the bladder glue, bout 5 minute steam boil totalling , the glue gel very strong like the silica gel, but it can not "glue " for any things :?

I dont know about this "no glue" problem. I know that some of bladers is precoooked or baket . I haeve this experiences vith one of 3 carp blader layers . 2 is good , but that 3 make only soup.
Fresh bladers is better way :

i try add soming to glue for see what happen,it is not original bladder glue,if buy the fish bladders fresh and deal with them yourself.it need 100-200$ for go that place stay there 3-5 days and go back, it only for bladders , if add bamboo or maple or horn, need 500$ for them, not add the cost of themself , the cheep way is buy it form internet, it is more luckly and bless for the quality

radius, buy one bladder for test , if it is good for glue, buy a lot, if the bladder too big too expensive, try buy a few cuted bladder form other chinese buy the big bladder

dusan , where has chinese city, where has bladders, can you find in east Europe?
Dusan
To this days i haevnt any information about croacker bladers here.In Slovakia was small chines comunities .Some chines restaurants . But if bladers are so expensive in China here must be more dear... I think that our sweeat water bladers + sturgeon material was good for me .

i found lots of this stuff around but man is it expensive! A small piece of the cheapest kind in one shop cost 25 bucks! I also found fish glue at lee valley, but it is made of skin, and from what i read skin glue is second rate.
Dusan
Yes. I dont believe big corportion and his "100% air bladers glue". From this reason i dont buy expensive sturgeon glue and try cooking miself. I think that not only skin but bones/ sturgeon haevn "bones" - its like shark somthing like colagen midle bones material/ - maybe all left things from sturgeon body is cooked.Busines is busines
