Hello everybody,
I`ve heard about some very interesting new book, published in 2005. The title of this book is ``CUMANS AND TATARS:ORIENTAL MILITARY IN PRE-OTTOMAN BALKANS,1183-1365``,written by Istvan Vasari, ex Magyar/Hungarian ambassador in Turkey .Since Cumans and Tatars were well known oriental horseback archers and mercenaries in Magyar/Hungarian, Byzantine, Serbian, Bulgarian medieval armies i would like to know has Istvan Vasari treated their own archery(ESPECIALLY CUMANS) in this book. If anybody got it and read it, please let me know about that stuff. It seems like a capital research. It existe one more similar book by Andras Paloczi Horvath ``PECHENEGES, CUMANS, IASSIANS(STEPPE PEOPLE IN MEDIEVAL MUNGARY)``,since i am not familiar with these books please let me know about archery stuff in them.

Thanx for the information MJ.

I own it. It's a very good high-level history (though, for obvious reasons, including the weird EU-like introduction, inevitably designed to irk the official state Romanian historiography).

Information on the Cumans in Hungarian isn't that hard to find, but in English it's very difficult. I can help you with a *little* bit, but your information may be just as complete as mine.

Feel free to email me for anything that would go off-topic here.
