Zoltan; I enjoyed your site greatly! What is the strange find? Hooking goats up to a chariot? Did you find this stranger that the guys hooking a griffin up?
The griffin should make a fine ride, for sure.
As an aside, people used to hook goats up to carts for children here in the USA before motorized vehicles; sheep too. Your guys found some oversized goats for sure.

I think Zoltan wanted to highlight that shape of the harness (Greek chariot) is strangely similar to Scythian bows and additionally they might have been made of hooking goats? horn.
Maybe my guess is wrong and Zoltan will clarify it!

Thanks Jack! I've start it one month ago. We have a forum for english speaking visitors!
Sorry this is my fault, I ve not carify what are my points!
So Peter has right! Thanks Peter!:)
A complett unstrung scythian bow on that pic! I know this thing is not new but I ve newer saw this form before in other use. I' ve saw the yoke looking like this on the first pic (and it is also a bow form)
Other wise those goats have a very simillar form horn like ibex goats. If they could use that for bows, haven't got to hunt ibex as I tought before.
I think this things indicate some questions, but I am not a historian.
Just wanted to show others, may be it is important...never know :)

I think those are not goats/ibexes or anything other than a pair of horses with plumes on the halter like a lot of cultures did to make the horses look regal or whatever purpose they are trying to achive heck I have seen thise plumes on the halters of horses till date in India, they are called tongas there.also on bullocks during country fairs and bullock cart races in the rural towns.

PJ; Very interesting info. There were two costumes for a horse excavated from Pazarak which had large cloth horns to make the horse look like a reindeer.
The critters in the illustration have knobs on their horns and one has a short upturned tail.
When the Bactrian hoard show came to Houston there was a jeweled cart being drawn by two tigers. (miniature, of course) I try to stay away from religion but this all must have some philosophical meaning.
Zoltan, we stray from your discovery. One must wonder at the association to a bow, if any.

There are many sports events which were popular in older times and at present in different regions,I am just guessing here that the cart with the goats was a special event in a particular region as there are different regions in india that have races of different types of carts, such as U.P. has ekka tonga(1 horse cart )races, punjab has bullock cart races and southindia has buffcart races, maybee there was a region that produced goats that could draw a chariot with 2 people( i sincerly doubt it).I still think that it is a representation of a horse chariot stylised to look like some mythical creature.
Not goats. These are typical mythical, composite animals frequently found in Siberian animal art. Cloven hooved, argal horns, lion musculature, horse's head. The drivers are a similar concoction.
